Product Description

Sometimes known as Tettnang, Schwetzinger, or Deutscher Frühopfen, Tettnanger is a traditional landrace hop originating from the Tettnang region of Germany. Classified as a classic noble hop, Tettnanger has been crossed with Fuggles and cultivated in several regions worldwide, including the United States, Australia, and Switzerland. While these versions share the Tettnanger name and similar brewing applications, the Fuggles influence can introduce subtle aromatic differences along with slightly increased bittering potential.

Authentic German Tettnanger hops are known for a refined spicy aroma accented by floral and earthy notes. With a relatively low alpha acid range of approximately 3% to 6%, Tettnanger is ideal for German ales, lagers, and wheat beers. When substitutions are necessary, Santiam, Spalt, or Fuggles can be used in its place.
