Product Description
A triploid seedling of the English Fuggle variety, Willamette is the most widely grown hop in the United States and was released through the USDA Breeding Program in 1976. Sitting stylistically between English and American hop traditions, Willamette is prized primarily for its aroma. It delivers a gently spicy profile with floral and subtle fruity notes, making it suitable for nearly any beer style, though it is most commonly used in English Ales, Golden Ales, and Brown Ales.
Willamette also pairs exceptionally well with a wide range of other hop varieties, often enhancing and complementing their aromatic qualities. When unavailable, Fuggles or Tettnanger can serve as reliable substitutes. Brewers can experience Willamette’s character in beers such as Buffalo Gold Pale Ale or St. James Irish Red Ale from Colorado’s Walnut Brewery.
